REAL's biofertiliser certification mark is only allowed to be used by digestate producers who hold a valid certificate under REAL's Biofertiliser Certification Scheme.
The first version, shown on the left, is awarded to producers who achieve certification to PAS 110, the Anaerobic Digestion Quality Protocol, and REAL’s Biofertiliser Certification Scheme Rules. Digestate that carries this version of the certification mark can be supplied, stored, and used as ‘products’ (without waste regulatory controls) in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The second version, shown on the right-hand side, is awarded to producers who achieve certification to PAS 110, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency's (SEPA) Regulatory Position Statement, and REAL's Biofertiliser Certification Scheme Rules. Digestate that carries this version of the certification mark can be supplied, stored, and used as 'products' (without waste regulatory controls) in Scotland.
