BCS Scheme Rules version 6 issued today

Posted: 1 March, 2021. Written by Georgia

Revision of the rules

Last year, we reviewed and revised the BCS Scheme Rules. A revised draft version was circulated for consultation to all certified operators, certification bodies, and TAC members. Following this consultation period and further discussions with stakeholders, we have now finalised the new version of the rules. Version 6 is available below. These rules are issued today and come into effect today (1st March 2021).

You can find our consultation response document here. Thank you to everyone who submitted their comments through this process. We found them very helpful!

Key changes to the rules include:

  • Reference to the Environment Agency's outcome of the ADQP review
  • Removal of the 'Quality Assurance' category of certification
  • Display of certificate and contact details on the BCS website

Implementation timescale

We have set a two-month transition period during which operators are required to make any changes to documentation e.g. references to BCS Scheme Rules version 6. There is a deadline of 1st May 2021 for implementation. We consider this is an appropriate timescale given the changes introduced. The audit checklist will be updated during this time and in use by the certification bodies for audits from 1st May.

Thank you again to everyone who contributed to the revision of these Scheme Rules.
